Chiropractic Care:
Chiropractic adjustments are used to restore normal joint motion and alignment, reduce stress on surrounding tissues, support nervous system function, improve range of motion, and help decrease pain. By freeing up restricted joints, adjustments can improve movement, enhance communication between the brain and body, and sharpen proprioception, helping the body move and function more efficiently overall. There’s so much more to explore here.
The Webster Technique is a gentle, noninvasive chiropractic approach for treating pregnant women. It’s focused on improving the mother’s nervous system, sacral motion, and pelvic biomechanics to reduce muscle and ligament tension, support optimal pelvic function, and create a balanced environment for baby - chiropractic care does not directly treat or turn the baby. We are credentialed in this care and also a part of the ICPA. Curious to learn more? Read on!
Bodywork
Bodywork involves using touch to work with muscles, connective tissue, fascia, tendons, ligaments, and skin to to reduce pain, improve mobility, release tension, and help people feel more connected to their bodies. In particular, it's effects on muscle relaxation and release may help improve chiropractic adjustment outcomes. Oil is often used to imrpove glide and technique, allowing for more thorough work on the tissues.
It's is educational to your neuromuscular system as it may help improve posture, movement, reduce body stress, and more. This achieved through local effects as well as re-education of these tissue through the input applied through the nervous system amd the feedback it brings to and from the brain.
This general term encompasses various techniques, from lymphatic drainage to breaking up fascia adhesions. (research-based BLOG POST coming soon). It can aid injury recovery, stress relief, chronic or acute pain, and overall well-being.
At its core, bodywork is about listening to the body through touch and responding with intention, care, and an informed touch (trained, intent touch based in deep knowedge of anatomy/physiology) to support both physical and emotional balance. It is core part of what we do here.
Acupuncture
The 100-hour acupuncture certification is a post-graduate program designed for those interested in studying acupuncture, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and meridian theory. The course was successfully completed in November 2022.
Traditional acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles at specific points on the body to stimulate energy flow, or “Qi” (pronounced as "chee"). It can help relieve pain, reduce stress, and support the body’s natural healing by balancing physical and energetic systems. This ancient practice has been used for over 5,000 years and over millennia it has evolved and spread worldwide, gaining recognition in modern healthcare for its effectiveness and therapeutic benefits. It can be used to treat anything from digestion to PTSD. Electroacupuncture involves adding electrical current stimulation between pairs of needles. This can help with pain relief, or improving nerve and muscle function, especially in chronic conditions or injuries. Conditions range from Bell’s Palsy to being immobilized by a cast.
Dry needling is an adjacent technique where thin needles are inserted into tight muscles or trigger points to relieve pain, improve movement, and promote healing.
Cupping
Cupping is a TCM technique where cups are placed on the skin to create suction, which helps stimulate blood flow, release muscle tension, and promote the body’s natural healing. It’s often used to ease pain, reduce inflammation, and move stagnant energy (Qi) for overall wellness. Even Olympic athletes have been seen using cupping as a method of recover, which helped popularize this practice more recently.
Dietary Recommendations
Supplements: these can help with the underlying causes to some of the issues you may be having. We like to explore and test for the essential nutrients, vitamins and minerals that your body’s reserves are deficient in. Some supplements may be high dosed during recovery to help with tissue healing, growth, and more. In general, supplements are generally focused on providing a singular component (i.e. vitamins) and are given as pills or capsules. Always check with your doctor before changing or adding dosages as tehy can help evaluate for vitamin toxicity and recommendation guidelines.
Nutraceuticals: medicinal properties of plants can be broken down to chemicals and their reactions. Nutraceuticals are a bit more plant or food-based compared to tinctures and extracts and can even come in powder form. These include mushroom varieties for cognitive benefits, Echinacea for boosting your immune system, turmeric for anti-inflammatory effects, and much more.
Herbs, Extracts and Tinctures: These are different forms of nutraceuticals and include anything from oregano leaves to help with mucus to slippery elm for blood pressure. Options include using whole herbs or extracts, or tinctures that are the more concentrated version of herbal extracts. Tinctures have an alcohol base while extracts use another solvent. Natural medicine can be as effective as some drugs or can be used in conjunction with them for synergistic effects. Using natural medicine offers the same medical benefits while sometimes reducing the signs and symptoms that may result from their use. We can explore if these options are right for you.
Functional Foods: these are foods that provide health benefits beyond basic nutrition, often supporting immunity, digestion, or heart health. Examples include prebiotics, probiotics, eating berries high in antioxidants, kiwi for constipation in children or adults, and more. We eat 2-3 times a day, might as well apply it for your health needs!
